The backplate and wing are two separable components of a scuba harness. Both pieces are attached to a buoyancy compensator that establishes neutral buoyancy underwater and positive buoyancy on the surface. Backplate, wing, and the rest of the system are modular. Each piece can be removed from the others. These are great options for divers who aren't certain which type they should get. Below are the pros and cons for each.
Stainless steel
The stainless steel wings and backplate can be ordered with or without a harness. The wings and backplate are made from 316 stainlesssteel. This material is highly resistant against saltwater. It is cut on a CNC cutter and polished manually to prevent sharp edges which can prematurely wear the strap. You can use them with either a single-air tank system or dual-air tank systems. To make storage easier, you can take off the wings and backplate made of stainless steel.

Backplates made of stainless steel are more heavy than those made from aluminium. Stainless steel backplates work well in colder climates and will reduce your weight while diving. Stainless steel backplates fit all types of dive tanks better than lead pieces. A Halcyon Dealer is able to provide weighting advice and help you decide what weight suits your body. This backplate is also more durable, so it doesn't require as frequent replacement.
Plastic
Even though the buoyancy of plastic back plate or wing is negative it can still be beneficial for weight replacement. Jacket BCDs come with pockets and weight integration. These ancillary features are not available for the backplate or wing system. These parts are also available separately. Both are available separately. We'll discuss the pros and con of each. It is important to choose the right back plate for you.
Softpack harness
There are several types of harnesses that can be used for the wings and backplate. Backplates, wing BCDs, and the most common are both available. These BCDs include all of the required components such as a backplate, wing, and harness. Users can also customize the harness using a range adjustable features. Softpack BCDs make technical divers' lives easier. They are lightweight and flexible and do not attach to rigid plates.

The drawback to steel backplates harnesses is their inability for adaptability. The harness cannot be used with single tanks. It's only designed for use with double tanks that have permanent bands. The steel harness is rigid but can be difficult to use when traveling. It is not suitable for single tanks and the steel backplate might be too heavy to use on the ground. It can be converted to work with single tanks by attaching adapters, but this is not recommended.
