Zale was a skin diver as well as a scuba diver, and became a pioneer in scuba diving during the 1950s. Zale was also an early tester of underwater equipment and an aqua specialist. In 1955, Sports Illustrated featured Zale on the cover. She was later a scuba instructor, and she began to photograph under water.

Greg Louganis, an internationally recognized diver, has a unique background that includes acting and sport. He was a gymnast as a child and then a diver when he was nine. He chose to pursue an acting profession after graduating from University of California Irvine. He began acting lessons and started appearing in commercials as well as plays.
