Make a career as a Cavern Diver

athens scuba park

If you are considering becoming a cavern diver, you will need to complete a scuba diving course. This course covers four scuba diving dives. The first one is an outdoor practice dive where you will learn basic techniques for handling line and reel, air management, and avoiding silt outs. Your instructor will teach you how to plan your dive as well as how to keep your orientation and control your air. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to dive in caves or other caves with safety rules.

Safety rules

The Rule of Threes is the cave diving safety protocol. A cave diver must have three sources of light and at least two tanks, one of which should be independent or multi-mounted. To ensure they are able to survive the dive, they should separate their gas into three sections. If the dive team has experience in diving in caves, a more conservative gas management plan will be preferred. Cave divers must practice safe diving practices in order to avoid hazards from caves.

Equipment

Cave diving requires the use of specific equipment. You should have two safety reels. One should be used to run guideline, while the other should be used to maintain line tension while the diver is in the cave. Each diver should have a safety reel that has enough line to reach the cave's entry and the longest permanent line. Most manufacturers will wrap the reels with guideline to prevent them from jamming when they make a new reel. To avoid a jam, you should cut off about 10 meters (30 ft) of line before use to reduce the risk of entanglement.

Maximum penetration

TDI offers a cavern diver course that is designed for scuba divers who wish to dive in areas where direct vertical access is not possible. This includes dives into caverns, and overhangs. It is not mandatory to sign up for a cavern dive course. However, the course will provide the necessary skills to make the most of the environment. This course will teach you how to navigate the narrow spaces often hidden from your view.

Maximum depth

Cavern diving has its limitations. You must never dive at night, and be aware of your limits. Cavern diving requires more advanced training that other types of diving. Cavern diving is a great option for those who are curious. You should be familiar with basic cave safety procedures, and you need to know your limits. It is a good idea to have some experience in cave diving before you attempt it. After that, you are ready to embark on your journey into the cavern diving world!
