White Point dive site is one of the best in LA. It is located close to hypo-thermal hotsprings and features white bacterial moss. This dive site features an old shipwreck as well as rock reefs and kelp. Giant sea stars, urchins, and cold water anemones are also common sights here. High tide is best for diving.
Leo Carillo
Leo Carrillo La is a California state parks located along Los Angeles County's southern coast. It is part Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. There are 1.5 miles of beach stretching into the Santa Monica Mountains. There are many opportunities for scuba divers to explore the beautiful waters off Leo Carrillo State Park's coast.
Divers can choose between three main dive spots at Leo Carrillo. These sites are perfect for beginners because they offer easy entry points as well as ample parking. They are also popular spots for night diving and lobster hunting and have plenty of marine wildlife to view.
Santa Barbara Island
Santa Barbara Island is home to some excellent offshore dive sites. These dive sites can be reached by visiting boats. These are excellent hunting and photography areas, and often rocky. In addition, there are many healthy kelp beds and purple hydro coral in these areas. The visibility is also excellent for Southern California waters.
Visitors to the island can also take part in snorkeling and kayaking. If it is dry, tent camping can be done. It is also home to large numbers of pinnipeds such as harbor seals, northern Elephant seals, and California Sea Lions. These animals can be seen in the rocks surrounding the sea lion nestery. There are several overlooks on the island.
Anacapa Island
Anacapa Island supports a wide variety marine life. The area is home to one of the first Marine Protected Areas in the United States. The area is great for beginners as well as seasoned divers. The water around the island is relatively warm, making it ideal for wetsuit diving. Surface temperatures can easily reach 70deg F (21deg C) in the late summer and fall. In winter, temperatures may drop as low to 50 degrees F (10oC). Using a 7mm wetsuit is recommended. Visibility is usually at least 100 feet (30M) during these months.
Dive charter boats and Island Packers can access the Anacapa dive spot. There are many dive sites on the Island, including a 40-foot high arch rock. These sites can also been viewed from the water surface by snorkeling gear.
Veteran's park
Veteran's Park on Ocean Drive is a Green Space that features a playground and fields. This is a wonderful place for families to come together. It's also near the beaches. It offers great views of the ocean from the park on sunny days. It is open throughout the year and has plenty to offer.
From the parking lot, it is easy to access. If you're a first-time diver, Veteran's Park is the best place to start your diving adventure. You can park easily and find restrooms. A meter is available for checking, and you can also use the outdoor shower to rinse your clothes. The park also has a changing area, but restrooms close at dusk.
