There are plenty of options for scuba diving in St Lucia. The Anse Chastanet is where you'll find the most amazing dives. These dives are accessible to anyone who isn't used to scuba diving. They can be accessed from 10 to 25 feet, and have some of most colorful corals.
Anse Chastanet Reef
The Anse Chastanet resort is located on a 600-acre estate with two volcanic black sand beaches and pristine coral reefs. The resort offers excellent scuba dive, snorkeling, as well as non-motorized watersports. You can either relax on the beach, or take part in guided hikes. The estate also houses an organic farm as well as a chocolate laboratory.
Anse Chastanet was awarded five Best of Readers Choice awards. It's a great site for novice divers and more experienced divers. The reef has wrecks and wall diving. There is also boat diving. Many divers love night diving on the Anse Chastanet coral reef.
Dani Koyomaru
Divers who wish to dive in Saint Lucia can choose from a number of options. You have the option to visit Rosemond's Trench which is smaller but no less impressive. Or, you can explore deeper waters. This area is famous for its massive schools of tropical fish and giant sponges the size of men. It also has intricate coral formations. You can also dive here to see the famous Saint Lucia coral reef system.
A few miles farther out from the coast is the Daini Koyomaru wreck. This Japanese dredger sank in 1996. The wreck remains partially submerged. It is supported by the superstructure. There are visible inscriptions in Japanese or other languages, and upturned decks can be seen.
Dani Koyomaru dragger
It is an amazing wreck to dive. The Daini Koyomaru, which was a Japanese fishing boat, was dredged in 1996. It is approximately 74m long and twenty-fourm high. The dredger has been turned on its side to make it safe for novice divers. It is home to a variety of marine life, including garden eels and moray eels as well as barracudas.
Another popular St Lucia dive location is the 165-foot Japanese dredger Lesleen M. While the depths of this dive site are limited, the reef is home to a number of fascinating creatures, including scorpionfish, flying gurnard, and rays.
Soufriere Marine Management Area
Scuba diving in St Lucia's Soufriere Marine Management Area is a great way to get closer to the island's beautiful coral reefs. The marine management area was created to protect the pristine waters and promote a healthy ecosystem. It was established because of environmental degradation and conflict between resource users. The SMMA was primarily created because of conflicts between local fishermen and scuba divers.
The Soufriere Pitons site has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004. It is protected as a nature preserve and hosts some of St Lucia's best diving. The site is home to numerous coral species and has an abundance of tropical fish. This area is also known for the passage of various species of cetaceans and predators. Divers can observe the stunning marine biodiversity.
