What is the Difference between a Wet Suit & a Dry Suit?

scuba club cozumel

The main difference between a drysuit and a wetsuit is the amount of water allowed to enter the suit. You will need to consider your preferences and what activities you intend to engage in before deciding on a wetsuit. Ask yourself questions such a how long you are planning to be in the pool, what temperature it is, and what type of body you have.

Gore-Tex dry suits

Fabric is a key distinction between GoreTex dry suits, and wetsuits. Non-GoreTex wetsuits don't breathe nearly as well and aren't quite as comfortable or durable. New dry suit fabrics have been created, including waterproof andbreathable fabrics. Kokatat for instance, created a drysuit made from durable yet breathable Gore-Tex fabric. Kokatat's suits are the first to have been developed and put on the market.

Trilaminate dry suits

The only difference between wet and dry suits is their outer shells. Trilaminate suits can be waterproof, but they don't have insulation and are usually lightweight. They also require a better fitting and are less flexible that trilaminate ones. This article will describe the main differences in wet suits and trilaminate suites and give you tips for selecting which suit is right.

Hydrus 3L fabric dry suits

The Kokatat Hydrus 3L is the updated version of the T3 Swift Entry, and is made from a water-resistant, breathable, three-layer fabric. Its tough nylon outer layer and proprietary polyurethane micro-porous inner coating both move water vapor away from your body, while the soft knit polyester inner layer is comfortable against your skin. This drysuit comes with tough latex neck-, wrist-, and ankle gaskets to keep water from entering.

Suits from IR

A wetsuit is more durable than a drysuit when it comes to keeping you dry. Dry suits keep you warm and prevent water from reaching your body. Additionally, dry suits often have purge valves. For example, aircrews often wear dry suits.
